An unrelated Crysis mod that coincidentally used the "Last Hope" name after the original domain was abandoned. Features an original sci-fi storyline about the Slaver Horde invasion and the Earth Scope defense grid.

Last Hope mod for Half-Life is founded. Salvi (Florida), ApOcaLyPSe_1985 (Netherlands), and Psyguy (Montreal) launch the phpBB forums at lasthopemod.com.
Summer 2002
50+ members join from the US, UK, Hungary, Russia, Australia, Egypt and beyond. Forums grow to 10+ sections with hundreds of posts on mapping, modelling, and skinning.

Salvi completes the website backend. Community celebrates watching the site update "right before their eyes!" Pendra37 asks about alpha release dates.
2003-2006
Active development with custom weapons by ApOcaLyPSe_1985, maps by XPlicit, and models by Nod. International community shares holiday greetings in multiple languages.
2007-2008
A new team reimagines Last Hope as a Crysis total conversion with an original sci-fi storyline. George "Blackhawk" Sawday leads the international development team.
Last Hope drew its core inspiration from the beloved X-COM series, bringing the tactical alien defense theme into the world of first-person shooters. The mod featured X-COM styled weapons, equipment, and atmosphere.
Built by 50+ modders from the USA, Netherlands, UK, Canada, Hungary, Russia, Australia, Egypt, and beyond. The phpBB forums at lasthopemod.com were the heart of development, featuring 10+ specialized sections for collaboration.
From custom weapon models to detailed maps, from concept art to original storylines - Last Hope represented the best of early 2000s modding culture and creative collaboration.
Active Development
The spirit of the original X-COM Last Hope lives on. X-COM: Last Hope Neo is a Source engine mod that continues the vision of bringing X-COM's tactical alien combat to first-person gameplay. Led by original team member Pendra37, the project carries forward the legacy that began in 2002.
The mod features asymmetric multiplayer combat where players can choose to fight as X-COM agents or alien invaders, with plans for a strategic campaign layer and co-op modes against AI opponents.
